The Gaming Giant Hires Apex Legends Lead to Revitalize Struggling Action Game Ambitious Title
2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the development team at their internal studio, which is currently developing the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Management Transition Follows Poor Feedback
The new appointee assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing early showing last autumn.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer informed staff about this strategic move through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had indicated the need for a distinct game identity.
The president expressed that the developers is now refining the project with a revised focus, aiming to address player expectations.
A Pattern of Key Recruitment
This announcement echoes a similar step taken by the publisher in August, when they brought on an industry veteran from the Diablo team to assist with the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Team—
I know you all just wrapped up your gathering - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Previously I sent you all a note, I expressed the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most motivated and creative developers we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to persist.”
Through your commitment and versatility, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The community feedback from last fall’s the game playtest was enlightening. It validated the promise of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had work to do. It highlighted the necessity for a sharper vision.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the criticism to consideration and revamped the title with a renewed vision - one that’s positioned to achieve its promise to our audience.
The trust in this project grows every day. To advance the outstanding development you’ve made, It is a pleasure to welcome Ben Brinkman as the new Lead of the team. Following several months of discussions, he starts with us on the specified date.
His guidance and experience in the competitive gaming field is considerable, having spent the past decade and a half producing and overseeing some of the most recognizable franchises in gaming, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, Apex Legends.
Please join me in receiving Ben soon. We are all excited to keep witnessing the progress of the game in the time to ahead.
The President
