Vinted Shoppers Share Displeasure Over Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
